Bringing Your Children Closer to Christ: How the Baptist Church Can Help

“He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” – Matthew 18: 2-6

Growing up a Christian and being a parent, there’s always a growing need within you to make your children have the same faith as you do. However, nowadays, it’s not always the case. Worldly temptations have become more varied, and it’s a lot easier for them to stray away from the faith and give in to it.

So how can you encourage your children to have a relationship with God?

This is a question parents at Calvary Road Baptist Church always ask us. That’s why we’ve come up with four convincing ways on how our Baptist Church can nurture your children’s faith and bring them closer to God:

  • We’re a community

By nature, we always want to belong. That’s why encouraging them to join youth sessions and groups will help them build connections with people who are of the same age and share the same faith. Our Baptist Church helps children bond over their experiences in faith and learn more about the gospel together. The facilitators of our youth ministries are always there to guide the young individuals in their journey to finding Jesus and living by the gospel.

  • We preach by example
  •

Of course, as a Christian community, we always strive to live by what the Word of God has taught us. Jesus, his son, was the prime example of living what he preached. He would travel to different towns and cities, preaching his values and examples on what would bring us closer to the Kingdom of Heaven, and of course living by it. By being a part of our ministry, they can join activities that live out Jesus’ teaching of serving the poor and preaching God’s Word. They will be exposed to many activities and projects held by our Baptist Church in Virginia that will not only shape their values but their spirituality as well.

  •
  • We teach based on scripture

As the verse in John 20: 30-31 goes, “Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. The core of our faith is based on God’s Scripture, his teachings in His Holy Book. We encourage the youth in our ministry to make it a habit to read the scripture and talk to God every day.

  • We have facilitators in our youth ministry who are ready to help your children
  •

Human as we are, we are always tempted to go back to the world, to forget our faith in times of weakness. Our facilitators know this more than anyone. Thus, you can rest assured that they can be there for your child whenever they have their doubts or whenever they need guidance on their journey to faith. We know that raising your children to live by Christian values can oftentimes be difficult, especially when you are also struggling with your own. That’s why we believe that it’s always best to have a community – a family – to help bring you back to your journey towards God’s Kingdom.
