Welcome everyone to the NG712 Puerto Rico Missions page of Calvary Road Baptist Church. Our mission’s team has grown this year and we are off to a new location as we minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ this summer. For this past three summers we have concentrated our efforts in the Orange Walk District of Belize, Central America. This year our team is headed to the island of Puerto Rico. We will be involved in many of the same types of service projects and ministries that we performed in Belize, but with the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria in 2017, we will, no doubt, discover many new opportunities to serve the people of this island and minister the grace of Jesus Christ. We do not know exactly what the Lord holds for us upon our arrival, but we go with eager hearts and desperate for the filling of the Holy Spirit to prepare and use us as the hands, feet, and mouth of God. We carry forth the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is found in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, which states: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” (ESV) Please pray and give generously to our missions efforts. Pray for souls to be won to Christ and for His will to be accomplished for Puerto Rico. God bless you!.

Going on the missions trip and helping the people of Puerto Rico is important to me because God’s gift to me was the gift of service and this is the perfect opportunity to put it to good use. Each year, God shows me more of His awesome power and it’s such a great honor to experience the body of Christ in different parts of the world. Some of my greatest life memories have been made while on mission for God. During the past three years, I have worked with children in Vacation Bible School, helped with various service projects, to include painting, cleaning, street evangelism, and hospital visitation. I am eager to go and serve alongside some of the greatest teens and adult team members I’ve ever had the privilege to meet. I am passionate about our missions trips and love spearheading our fundraising events and working with some of the best youth in the world. This will be my seventh mission’s trip and my first time to Puerto Rico. This also marks the possible last trip that I will be going with one of my own children as my baby will be entering college this year. We felt helpless, being so far away and unable to help our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters. I have always wanted to go on a missions trip, and the fact that I get to help my people is an honor beyond comprehension. Philippians 2:10-11 is a verse that speaks to me about the importance of missions. It reads: “…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” En Español, se dice: “…para que en en el nombre de Jesús de doble toda rodilla, de los que están el los cielos, y en la tierra, y debajo de el tierra, y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es el Señor, para la gloria de Dios Padre.”

Although this is the second time I will be flying overseas on a Missions Trip, this will be a totally new experience for me. Last year in Belize, we hosted a Vacation Bible School at a local church CRBC had been supporting for the past few years. One of my favorite things was playing soccer with the children and seeing their smiling faces. I am looking forward to this trip because I will be able to have fellowship and be a light for God to the people of Puerto Rico.
